The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
