And Nuh did certainly call upon Us, and most excellent answerer of prayer are We. 75 for We saved him and his household from that awesome calamity, 76 And made his progeny survive, 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the peoples! 79 This is how We reward the virtuous. 80 For he was one of our believing Servants. 81 We then drowned the others. 82 ۞ And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham 83 He turned to his Lord with a sound heart 84 When he said to his father and to his people: "What is it that which you worship? 85 A lie-- gods besides Allah-- do you desire? 86 What think you then of the Lord of all Being?' 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 So they departed from him turning their backs. 90 and he turned to their idols and asked them, "Do you eat? 91 What aileth you that ye speak not? 92 Then he started striking them down with his right hand. 93 So the disbelievers came running towards him. 94 Said he: What! do you worship what you hew out? 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 And they desired a war against him, but We brought them low. 98 (Abraham) said, "I will go to my Lord who will guide me". 99 My Lord, give me one of the righteous.' 100 We gave him the glad news of the birth of a forbearing son. 101 And when he became capable of working with him, Ibrahim said, “O my son, I dreamt that I am sacrificing you – therefore now consider what is your opinion”; he said, “O my father! Do what you are commanded! Allah willing, you will soon find me patiently enduring!” 102 So when they both submitted and he threw him down upon his forehead, 103 We called unto him: O Abraham! 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 Lo! that verily was a clear test. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 108 'Peace be upon Abraham!' 109 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 110 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous. 112 and We blessed him and Isaac: but among the offspring of these two there were [destined] to be both doers of good and such as would glaringly sin against themselves. 113
