In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar. 4 What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure! 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your, (Muhammad's), Lord, the Majestic and Munificent God? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 And the Thamud, the people of Lot, as well as the dwellers of the Wood, had denied. These were the hordes. 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14
