And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 (We commanded him): “Stamp your foot on earth, and here is cool water to wash with and to drink.” 42 We restored his family to him, doubling their number as an act of grace from Us, and as a reminder to all who are endowed with insight. 43 "And take in thy hand a little grass, and strike therewith: and break not (thy oath)." Truly We found him full of patience and constancy. How excellent in Our service! ever did he turn (to Us)! 44 AND CALL to mind Our servants Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, [all of them] endowed with inner strength and vision: 45 We distinguished them for the distinct remembrance of the abode (of the Hereafter). 46 Lo! in Our sight they are verily of the elect, the excellent. 47 Remember also Our servants Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhul Kifl; each is among the excellent. 48 This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2) is a good final return (Paradise), 49 Gardens of Eden with gates open wide to them, 50 They will be resting therein and will be able to ask for many kinds of fruit and drink. 51 ۞ and wherein there shall be with them well-matched, bashful mates. 52 This is what you, [the righteous], are promised for the Day of Account. 53 This is surely Our provision never-ending. 54 However, the rebellious ones will have the worst place to return. 55 They shall roast in (the Fire) of Gehenna, an evil cradling. 56 This - let them taste it: scalding water and corruption. 57 And other (torment) of the kind in pairs (the two extremes)! 58 [And they will say to one another: "Do you see] this crowd of people who rushed headlong [into sin] with you? No welcome to them! Verily, they [too] shall have to endure the fire!" 59 They will say to them, "You are not welcome! It was you who brought this on us, an evil place to stay," 60 They will say: "O Lord, give him who has brought this upon us two times more the torment of Hell;" 61 And they will say, "How is it that we do not see [here any of the] men whom we used to count among the wicked, 62 Is it [because] we took them in ridicule, or has [our] vision turned away from them?" 63 Truly that is just and fitting,- the mutual recriminations of the People of the Fire! 64
