AND CALL to mind Our servant Job, [how it was] when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Behold, Satan has afflicted me with [utter] weariness and suffering!" 41 (And it was said unto him): Strike the ground with thy foot. This (spring) is a cool bath and a refreshing drink. 42 And We bestowed his household to him and one more similar to it – as a mercy from Us, and as a remembrance for the people of intellect. 43 and, 'Take in thy hand a bundle of rushes, and strike therewith, and do not fail in thy oath.' Surely We found him a steadfast man. How excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 44 Remember Our votaries Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of power and insight. 45 for, verily, We purified them by means of a thought most pure: the remembrance of the life to come. 46 In Our eyes they were of the chosen, virtuous people. 47 Remember also Our servants Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhul Kifl; each is among the excellent. 48 This is a reminder. And lo! for those who ward off (evil) is a happy journey's end, 49 the Gardens of eternity with gates thrown wide open to them. 50 wherein they shall recline, wherein they shall ask for abundant fruit and drinks, 51 ۞ And beside them will be chaste females (virgins) restraining their glances only for their husbands, (and) of equal ages. 52 This is what you were promised on the Day of Reckoning: 53 Indeed this is Our sustenance, which will never end. 54 All this [for the righteous]: but, verily, the most evil of all goals awaits those who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right: 55 Hell!- they will burn therein, - an evil bed (indeed, to lie on)!- 56 This is so! Then let them taste it, a boiling fluid and dirty wound discharges. 57 And other (punishment) of the same kind-- of various sorts. 58 'This is a troop rushing in with you; there is no Welcome for them; they shall roast in the Fire.' 59 [And] they [who had been seduced] will exclaim: "Nay, but it is you! No welcome to you! It is you who have prepared this for us: and how vile a state to abide in!" 60 They say: Our Lord! Whoever did prepare this for us, oh, give him double portion of the Fire! 61 And will add: "O what has happened to us that we do not see the men we counted among the wicked. 62 Did we take them (wrongly) for a laughing-stock, or have our eyes missed them? 63 Surely that is true -- the disputing of the inhabitants of the Fire. 64
