Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HaMeem. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted. 8
