The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
