Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
