Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 So he hurried to the house and brought a fatted calf, 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
