The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
