HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 Thamud, 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 while you make merry? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
