Al-Najm 3 of 3
(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 He plunged the villages 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
