The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
