The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
