Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
