Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
