The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and serried acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
