The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Beneficent 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
