He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
