The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 Created man, 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
