The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a Great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
