Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Does he believe that none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 But he could not scale the steep ascent. 11 And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 of an orphan near of kin, 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 The Fire will vault them over. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
