The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 on raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
