The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
