The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
