The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the people of the right hand 38
