The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
