The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
