Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
