The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And your clothing purify 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
