Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In high empyrean 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
