Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
