And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
