Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
