Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “I have received the divine revelation that some jinns attentively listened to my recitation, so they said, ‘We have heard a unique Qur’an.’ 1 Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. 2 And (we believe) that He - exalted be the glory of our Lord! - hath taken neither wife nor son, 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 so much so that they came to think, as you [once] thought, that God would never [again] send forth anyone [as His apostle]. 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: 10 As for us, some of us are righteous and others are not. We have all followed different ways. 11 And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire'- 15 And had they kept to the path surely We would have watered them with rain plenteous. 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
