In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
