Nay, by the Moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 about the sinners. 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They said, "We never used to offer the prayer." 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
