Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning to mortals, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
