Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
