The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
