The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the Great News 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
