The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
