The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 that hide, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
