28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “I have received the divine revelation that some jinns attentively listened to my recitation, so they said, ‘We have heard a unique Qur’an.’ 1 Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: 2 He exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, who has neither taken to Himself a wife, nor a son! 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 Some of us have come to submission, and some of us are iniquitous.'" Those who have submitted have taken the right course; 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 ‘And that the mosques are for Allah only – therefore do not worship anyone along with Allah.’ 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
