The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
