The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
