The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
