The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
