The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
