The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
